Continuing training for Anglican Prison Chaplains
On April 1, 2026, another training day was organized by the Anglican Institute in Belgium (AIB) for Anglican prison chaplains serving in Belgium at the Church House of Holy Trinity in Brussels. The group was comprised of longstanding chaplains as well as new volunteers. The day started with prayer and meditation on Psalm 22.
Revd. Stephen Murray, the Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Anglican Church in Belgium and the Interim Principal of the AIB led the main part of the workshop on the significance of the Christian understanding of faith, hope and love in prison ministry. Rebecca Breekveldt, Second Secretary of the Central Committee, gave a refresher on the financial policy.
The latter part of the day was spent discussing about current situations and challenges that prison chaplains have faced in Belgian prisons. Some exciting possibilities for future trainings were also suggested. Finally, the group also joined the Chrism Eucharist and Renewal of Ministry as part of the church’s celebration of holy week.
