Deelname is GRATIS.

Anglican worship has a long history in Flanders: from communities in the 16th and 17th centuries, through its official recognition in 1870, to the present day. Throughout this history, heritage has been created—buildings, documents, traditions, and stories that reflect the community's life.

Welcome to the second edition of "Caring for the Heritage of Anglican Worship" on Saturday, January 31st, at the Anglican Church in Oostende. During this training session, you'll discover how to properly care for this heritage.

What's involved in managing a church building? How do you prevent damage or accidents? And how can oral history help capture and preserve stories for the future?

Couldn't make it last time? No problem – no prior knowledge is required.

View the program HERE.

Registration is FREE. Please complete the form HERE.

Date and time: Saturday, January 31, 2026, 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Location: Anglican Church of Oostende, Langestraat 101, 8400 Oostende

The training session will be bilingual (Dutch-English) and is organized by PARCUM, a museum and expertise center for religious art and culture, in collaboration with Evadoc within KADOC-KU Leuven, and with the support of the Central Committee of the Anglican Church in Belgium and the Church Council of the Anglican Church of Oostende.

Together on the Way: Exploring Spiritual Accompaniment

As the new year begins, the Diocese in Europe warmly invites you to explore spiritual accompaniment.

In this open online session, members of the ‘Soul Friends’ (Diocese in Europe Spiritual Directors) will describe the nature of their Ministry and explain how to find a spiritual companion. You’ll hear from well-trained Spiritual Directors, have opportunities to discover more in breakout groups, and, if you wish, find accompaniment for your own journey.

What is Spiritual Accompaniment?

Who is it for?

Anyone. Lay or ordained; people new to faith or those whose Christian faith has matured over time.

Why might you be interested?
Wanting to talk to someone about your faith; a sense your prayer life has lost something vital; a desire to deepen faith through prayer; some doubt you can’t explain; responding to a sense of vocation or calling. The reasons are many and varied.

How does it work?
The Diocese of Europe Spirituality Advisor will be happy to give you a list of trained and experienced accompaniers representing the breadth and diversity of the Christian faith. Meet for an initial chat and if it doesn’t feel right, there is no obligation to go back. Meet several and decide who seems right for you.

Almost anywhere private, a lot of accompaniment takes place online, although meeting face to face can be a rich experience.

Questions
Does it require a depth of knowledge?
No

Will I be influenced or persuaded?
No

Will I have to pay?
Most accompaniers do not charge.

Is it confidential?
Yes, although all accompaniers have a supervisor to ensure safe practice.

What is an accompanier?
The time spent together in a listening ministry with prayer by the Spiritual Director or Guide. The person seeking guidance is referred to as the directee.

Centenary of the Malines Conversations

100 years ago, the ‘Malines Conversations’ ended. Precursor to ecumenism, then-archbishop Cardinal Désiré-Joseph Mercier (1851-1926), in a friendly atmosphere, invited a few people to talks that explored the conditions for a reunion of the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches. The talks took place in Mechelen at the episcopal palace in 1921, 1923 and 1925.

On the occasion of the centenary of the Malines Conversations, the Archdiocese of Malines-Brussels is organizing an international academic congress in collaboration with KU Leuven and UC Louvain, from Thursday 18 till Saturday 20 September.

On Sunday 21, the choir of King's College Cambridge will be singing Evensong at 16:00 in the Saint Rumbold’s Cathedral. This event is free and open to everyone, so maybe you can get a group together from your parish?

AIB INSIGHTS: Ministry in the Episcopal Church and the Church of England

The Anglican Institute in Belgium warmly invites you to the launch of a new lecture series, AIB Insights. Through this series, we aim to share learning, inspire reflection, and spark thoughtful conversation on topics of interest to the Anglican Church and the wider academic community.

We’re delighted to begin the series with a talk by the Reverend Michael Rusk, Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Geneva and Advisor to the AIB. With extensive experience as an ordained minister, and through his work with the European Institute of Christian Studies—supporting the formation of leaders in the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe—Rev. Rusk will offer valuable insights into ministry in both the Episcopal Church and the Church of England.

We would love for you to join us on Saturday, 17 May at 15:00, at Holy Trinity Brussels

To help us plan for the event, we kindly ask that you register by emailing us at registrar@anglican.be.

Registration closes Friday 16th, at 15:00.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Learning Lab

The Anglican Institute in Belgium organises quarterly Learning Labs hosting researchers connected to Anglicans churches in Belgium, both those who are lay and/or ordained who conduct research in a variety of fields. Participants present a topic of their choosing to their peers and engage in a discussion surrounding their topic.

The goal is not only to build a network and to strengthen the academic and intellectual profile of Anglicanism in Belgium as well as to facilitate dialogue between various fields of research and to engage with the ideas of others on an academic and personal level.
